There is a school in Brooklyn, NY where the pre-school students are learning to share with and care about others through “special learning.” Caroline Batzdorf describes this innovative program and introduces us to educators who truly are making a difference in their community.

“It’s A Girl Thing” is an award-winning program in NYC founded in 1996 by neighborhood mothers, workers, activists and others dedicated to ensuring that youth in the community learn to use critical thinking to help others and grow into productive and happy adults. Abraham Paulos describes the program and some of the outcomes realized.
